We started way back in 2012 and we’ve been on a great property journey since. From our beginnings as a small, privately owned portfolio of student property in Nottingham to our great success in 2016 on Europes biggest crowdfunding website, we’ve stayed true to our core values. We work as hard as we can to deliver an exceptional experience for our community of landlords, property investors and student and young professional tenants across Sheffield, Leicester, Nottingham and Manchester. Andy manages all of our landlord relationships and directs and oversees the entire acquisition and development of our properties. Andy is committed to raising standards in the house share market and it is his vision that has ensured Smart Property have become the market leading provider for landlords in the student and professional property market.

Andy first began successfully developing and investing in property in 2009. As his portfolio and business grew his work became professionally recognised, and he eventually co-founded Smart Property in 2015. He has a wealth of experience and knowledge of the student and professional house share markets and has a genuine passion for quality and the vision and commitment to deliver high quality, affordable rooms.

He writes as as a regular columnist about a wide variety of topics in the housing market for Your Property Network, the UKs leading property investment magazine.

Dedicated to development, John is the proud holder of an Investors In People GOLD accreditation and he also sits on the board of Directors for ARLA (Association of Residential Letting Agents) giving him a great vantage point over everything in the sales and letting world!

James Clarke

Business Development Manager

James is a very experienced and successful businessman, with a background in starting and growing new business models for blue-chip companies including Travelzoo and OpenTable, which grew into multimillion pound companies! James has achieved some other really cool stuff too, including his award for National Young Entrepreneur of the year in an initiative backed by Microsoft and Peter Jones from Dragon’s Den! Despite his successes, James is a family man at heart and has built up a respectable portfolio of high quality student properties in and around Manchester himself – so he is well placed to deliver the Smart Property level of service our landlords and investors have come to expect!

Rob Bloor

Portfolio Manager

Rob learnt his craft working for an independent letting and property management company, based in Sheffield. With over 400 properties to manage he soon became heavily involved with overseeing all aspects of property management and had built a strong skill set setting him up to be a competent portfolio manager. He spent 4 years as a painter and decorator before getting into the property sector and has been able to use his background in construction to get involved with the refurbishments – he isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty!

After 5 years’ experience working for a small lettings business, Rob wanted to branch out and use his skill set with another take on the rental market. Being from Sheffield he has always been aware of the huge student presence in the city and was blown away by the ethos of Smart Property – offering high end student and HMO living across Sheffield, Leicester and the North West. He was naturally keen to get involved with Smart Property and help spearhead the movement of offering second to none accommodation to students and young professionals.

Out of the office Rob is a huge music fan – attending as many gigs and is constantly scouring the internet to discover new artists. Some of his favorites include Sheffield very own Arctic Monkeys and Pulp, along with the 90’s indie genre. Also a keen mountain biker, often out in the peak district exploring the many trials the area has to offer – definitely an adrenaline junky. Rob has travelled from the east to west coast of the United States and makes several trips to cities in Europe throughout the year, exploring different cultures and broadening his life experience.

Amy is another superstar Portfolio Manager and takes care of everything to do with our tenants and properties, from arranging maintenance to helping tenants reclaim their deposits at the end of the year! Amy places customer service at the forefront of her role and has become a great ambassador of our service values! Amy also loves cats, but with Hugo the office dog resting on her knee most days, she’s definitely becoming more of a dog lover! #watchthisspace
